The Board of Trustees of
Northern Illinois University
hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the
electrical and site electric, plumbing, and fire protection project.
Northern Illinois University is constructing a new Convocation Center located on Illinois Route 38, West Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, IL. The Convocation Center will be approximately 222,000 square feet and will feature a mixed-use arena for sporting events, exhibits, and concert performances (approximately 10,000 seats). Three completed copies of the bid with forms are to be submitted at the opening--one copy marked as "Original." This project is tax exempt.
The bids are due no later than 1:00 p.m. on March 7, 2001, at the Northern Illinois University Office of Procurement Services, Gilbert Hall, Room B113, DeKalb, IL 60115. The bids can be mailed or hand delivered to the previously mentioned address. Please indicate on the outside of the envelope which bid package is enclosed. Faxed bids will not be accepted. No late bids will be accepted. The bid opening will be at 2:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room of the Holmes Student Center at NIU, DeKalb, IL.

A deposit of $100 in the form of a certified check, cashier''''s check, bank draft, or bank money order shall be required for each set of bidding documents. Make check payable to "Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University." The plan deposit will be returned to each bonafide bidder who actually submits a bid and returns all bid documents in good condition within 20 business days after the bid opening to Northern Illinois University, Office of Procurement Services, Gilbert Hall, Room B113, DeKalb, IL 60115.

Additional Information
Requests for additional information must be directed in writing to Brad Booker of Turner Construction by Fax: 815-787-7617. Successful bidders will enter into a contract with Northern Illinois University.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked electrical and site electric, plumbing, and fire protection.
Bids will be received up to the hour of
1:00 PM
local time, on
Wednesday, March 7, 2001.
Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.
All bids must include:
- Bid security (see complete bid for details)
- A letter from a surety company in substantially the
form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance
of the Performance and Payment Bond.
- All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the
Illinois Department of Human Rights.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on February 2, at 10:00 a.m. in the Heritage Room of the Holmes Student Center. Although the pre-bid meeting is not mandatory it is highly recommended that you attend. Call for directions: 815-753-6111.
