The Board of Trustees of Northern Illinois University hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the architectural services involving renovations to the theater department's facilities project.
This is a QBS request for submittals of qualifications by architects for program
analysis, preliminary design, estimation and preparation of plans, and specifications
for bidding. Within the scope of the work is expansion and deepening of the orchestra pit, replacing portable pit filler platforms, and providing a new trap room area under the existing stage. The project will require assessment of as-built conditions, estimation of anticipated construction costs, presentation of alternative program solutions, preparation of construction documents, and on-site observation during construction. The desired construction completion is before Fall 2002.
Respondents must supply resumes of key personnel, evidence of prequalification with the Capital Development Board (CDB), references, description of similar, previously-completed projects, and information regarding current workload and availability. The use of CDB Standard Form 255 is required for submittal of qualifications. The project will be administered by NIU, not CDB. A Northern Illinois University selection committee will review and evaluate all submittals, recommending a preferred firm based on the following weighted evaluation criteria:
