The University awarded a contract for an on-line book subscription service to ebrary, Palo Alto, CA for $50,000.
Ebrary is a privately held on-line electronic database provider featuring a trademarked, subscription-based, information research-and-delivery system using cutting-edge technology and innovative, prioprietary, patent-pending delivery platforms. Featuring licensed content and a growing collection of more than 60,000 titles from more than 200 leading academic and professional publishers, this hosted on-line book service has pioneered advanced software and delivery solutions enabling a faster, more efficient, more cost-effective, and more flexible information-and-research on-line database unique unto itself in the electronic-book marketplace.
All ebrary products feature the trademarked "ebrary Reader" which allows for faster file conversion and viewing capabilities. Ebrary also features trademarked, patent-pending "InfoTools" software allowing for more powerful and efficient research capabilities and functions connected to searching, printing, manipulating text, and establishing links to outside sources, and allows for a more liberal provision of copying and printing information than any other electronic book vendor. This unique database provider also offers both simultaneous multi-user subscriptions as well as perpetual-access models, and ebrary's proprietary "Academic Complete" service, which pairs a unique and distinguished database content with an advanced set of tools, allows for an unlimited number of simultaneous users of a single text -- a stunning development and advancement in the electronic-book-database field. With proprietary, trademarked, and patent-pending delivery systems, platforms, and software, and featuring licensed authoritative content, this innovative, standard-setting, and cost-effective on-line research subscription database is economically feasible and procurable from only one source. This award is for open order purchases for the period through June 30, 2006.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the product's delivery system, platforms, and software are proprietary and trademarked, patent-pending, and feature licensed content.
