Northern Illinois University awarded a contract for used research equipment in the amount of $45,000 on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 . Northern Illinois University intends to award an order for one used Molecular Devices SpectraMax M5 Multi-Detection Microplate Reader inclusive of Absorbance, Flourescence Intensity, TRF, Fluorescence Polarization, and Luminescence, Accessory Kit and one-year warranty. This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which items available on the spot market or at discounted prices were available for a limited time such that sound business judgement mandated a purchase immediately to take advantage of the availability and price.
