The University
awarded
a contract for
a physical property measurement system
to
Quantam Design, San Diego, CA
for
$242,712.
A system is required that can measure both resistance and magnetization of materials, and includes an integrated cryocooler-dewar system that produces liquid helium needed for operating the superconducting magnet and controlling the experimental temperatures.
This physical property measurement system measures both resistive and magnetic properties of materials in magnetic fields up to 9T and at temperatures down to 2 Kelvin. In addition, it has an integrated cryocooler-dewar system that will provide essential cost-savings on liquid helium.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
vendor is the only supplier of a physical property measurement system that can measure both resistive and magnetic properties of materials and has an integrated cryocooler dewar system.
