Project Description
Bids are requested from qualified contractors for the re-development of the existing 85,000 gsf, 13-story residential building known as Grant Tower – “D” on the DeKalb Campus at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois.

Work shall include interior demolition and reconstruction including all necessary general trades work, mechanical (HVAC & plumbing) work, electrical work, fire alarm and fire protection work, security and information technology work to fully and completely re-develop the existing building in conformance with the re-development work recently completed at Grant Tower “C”.

Work shall include all necessary general conditions, labor, materials, supervision and appurtenances necessary to fully and properly complete the construction and provide full acceptance testing as a basis for turnover to the Owner.

The work shall be bid as multiple prime contracts with the successful General Contractor being assigned ALL of the prime contracts in accordance with the State of Illinois Purchasing Act.

Mandatory Pre-Bid Meeting/Site Visit
A mandatory pre-bid meeting will be held in the Grant Hall Tower "A" ground floor formal lounge on the DeKalb Campus at 9:00 AM local time on Thursday, January 19, 2012. Bidders who fail to attend the pre-bid meeting and visit the site will not be allowed to bid on this project.

***For the pre-bid meeting and walk through, contractors may park ONLY in lot W (orange) or lot 49 (blue) north of Grant without being ticketed. Failure to adhere to these parking restrictions will result in tickets and potential towing.****
