for a bare tube boiler economizer (Bid # C-02-13375-0136M). Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking bids on one bare tube boiler economizer designed for counter flow of flue gas and water, with vertical down flow of flue gas. The allowable pressure drop shall be based on maximum steam rate. The unit shall be designed to withstand full temperature conditions without flow of feed water. The boiler is a stoker fed coal unit. The Boiler Economizer shall meet the following performance specifications:

  • Duty: 8.6 MMBtu/hr
  • TUBE SIDE
  • Water: 82,300 lb/hr
  • Minimum temperature in: 260 F
  • Maximum temperature out: 315 F +/-
  • Pressure in: 165 PSIG
  • Pressure drop (maximum): 18.0 OSIG
  • Fouling: 0.001
  • GAS SIDE
  • Flue gas: 116,000 lb/hr
  • Temperature In 633 F
  • LMTD: 140 F
  • Presure drop (maximum): 1.5" w.g.
  • Fouling: 0.001
The economizer shall be designed for 400 psig. The relief valve shall be set at 200 psig. The boiler produces 135 psig saturated steam. The economizer shall be designed and fabricated to replace an existing unit without replacement of inlet and outlet breeching. The inlet and outlet breeching to the economizer is: 10'-0" by 7'-0", and the casing height is 11'6-1/2" between ductwork flanges. A contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder meeting specifications and conditions.

The University reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids or parts thereof. Vendor may expect payment thirty to sixty days after receipt of invoice, unless otherwise stated in the bid/RFP documents. Contingent on Board of Trustees approval. Bidding documents may be obtained by contacting the Purchasing Office. Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) eligibility number is required on all bid proposals.
