The University awarded a contract for a chemical delivery, storage, and handling system to Nalco Chemical Company, Chicago, IL for $375,000.
The system is for the corrosion inhibitors and oxygen scavengers used to treat the water entering the boilers at the SIUC Power Plant.
Nalco is the only manufacturer and distributor of the chemical storage and delivery system, and the only company with the traser control system in use at the Power Plant. Both the porta-feed system and the traser control system are unique to Nalco Chemical Company.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration.
