Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking bids for vehicle rental for the period 01-September 2001 through 30 June 2002.
The vehicles to be rented include, but are not limited to: 15 passenger vans, 7 passenger vans, sedans, station wagons, compacts, and pickup trucks. The lessor is to furnish vehicles with full maintenance, including tire replacement. The lessor is to furnish collision and comprehensive physical damage insurance, non-deductible. The lessee will furnish gas and oil. No one under the age of 21 years will be permitted to drive; nor anyone other than faculty, staff, or students of the University. Authorized personnel of SIUC Travel Service shall notify the vendor no less than 24 hours in advance of the needed rental period.
It is estimated that the number of short-term rentals involved in the contract will be as follows: 150 for vans and pickup trucks, and 200 for sedans, station wagons, and compacts, with the most popular periods being from 2 days to 2 weeks. The vehicles being rented are to be current, no older than 2000 models. The lessor is to furnish PL and PD insurance in the minimum amounts of $100,000/$300,000/$25,000. The sedans being bid must meet EPA fuel mileage average of 27-1/2 MPG. The lessor is not to charge the University mileage or a flat fee for delivery or pickup of the vehicles to the SIUC Travel Service location. Prospective bidders must indicate the price per day of vehicle rental, as well as price per mile for each type of vehicle.
This Request will result in a contract for the period September 1, 2001 through June 30, 2002 with the University option to renew for 2 additional 12-month periods beginning 01 July 2002 in accordance with the terms of the original contract.
A contract will be awarded to the lowest bidder meeting specifications and conditions.
The University reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bids or parts thereof. Vendor may expect payment thirty to sixty days after receipt of invoice, unless otherwise stated in the bid/RFP documents. Bidding documents may be obtained by contacting the Purchasing Office. Illinois Department of Human Rights (IDHR) eligibility number is required on all bid proposals.
