Southern Illinois University Carbondale wishes to enter into an agreement with the successful proposer, to provide a mass transit system for the campus. The base proposal shall be the amount charged per year to furnish the buses, including standby buses for operation of daily and weekend schedules, in accordance with the specifications spelled out in the proposal. The hourly additive rate for bus operations shall be based on the beginning of the route and shall conclude with the last appearance of the bus at the final stop of the route. No deadhead mileage or hourly charges will be allowed on the basic service contract. The proposal also contains an Alternate Package A, which provides for a minimum of two vans/small buses to transport students and other designated persons with severe disabilities to and from campus within close proximity to the city limits of Carbondale, Illinois, during the period of time classes are in session, including the summer session. The contract(s) will be awarded based on an evaluation of the proposer's submission, taking into the account the proposer's ability to address successfully the full intent of the Request for Proposal. Separate contracts may be awarded for the basic service, and or/alternate Package A. A pre-proposal conference will be held Tuesday, October 12, 1999 at 10:00 AM CDST in the Vermillion Room, located in the Student Center on the campus of Southern Illinois University Carbondale.
