The unit the University is purchasing is a Varian Saturn 2100T gas chromatography/mass spectrometer system with chemical ionization and MS/MS technology. The Saturn 2100T is the only unit capable of providing simultaneous electron impact ionization, liquid chemical ionization, and tandem mass spectrometry without significant hardware changes and increased instrument downtime.
