Project Description
The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University requests letters of interest from architects/engineers to provide professional services for constructing a new football stadium, and renovating and expanding the SIU Arena.

The University intends to construct a new 15,000 seat stadium with lower and upper level seating to be arranged symmetrically along the east and west sidelines providing 7,500 seats at each sideline. Restrooms, concessions, and other amenities will be distributed throughout the stadium. A two level structure is to be located on the west side of the stadium with club and suite seating on the lower level and press and staff seating on the upper level.
A stand alone building to be located at the south end zone will contain home and visitor locker rooms, training rooms, equipment rooms, coaches' locker rooms, team meeting rooms, football offices, media room, and a lobby area. A new on-site parking lot will adjoin the east side of the stadium.
The Arena renovation project is to include new chair back seating throughout the lower seating areas, improved accessibility, middle handrails at all aisles, a new scoreboard, and improvements to the exterior. The expansion will include new suites to be added on one side of the arena, a new two level exterior surrounding the existing structure, and will include expanded team facilities on the lower level, as well as, increased concessions, restrooms, and fan amenities on the upper level.
In addition to the qualifications listed below, the following project related criteria will be used to evaluate the consulting firms requesting consideration for selection:
- Prior firm experience with similar
- Appropriate staff size and disciplines
- Prior performance of firm and its consultants with completed projects at Southern Illinois University and with other state higher education institutions
- Participation in a minority and female business enterprise program

- Licensed to practice as an architect, landscape architect, or engineer in the State of Illinois.
- Pre-qualified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
