The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the fire alarm test and repair project.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale will accept bids to provide all material, labor and equipment required to provide testing and repair of the fire alarm systems in Schneider, Mae Smith, Neely, Lentz, Trueblood, Grinnell, Allen I, II & III, Boomer I, II, and III, Wright I, II & III, Abbott, Warren, Kellogg and Smith Halls located on the campus of Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL.

This request consists of testing and repairing all required components, devices, conduit, cable and labor necessary for the complete yearly certification of the fire alarm systems for the above referenced buildings including, but not limited to testing, inspection and repair of the following:

  • Manual pull stations
  • Smoke detectors
  • Heat detectors
  • Audio/visual signals
  • Visual signals
  • Door holders
  • Addressable interface units (Control Modules)
  • Addressable interface units (Monitoring Modules)
  • Smoke detector guards
  • A/V guards
  • Visual guards
  • Transient voltage surge suppresssion
  • Fire alarm control panels
  • Remote power supplies
  • Extended battery
  • Fire alarm wire and cable
  • Facilities Operation Center alarm verification
  • Lock boxes


All other requirements are listed on the Request for Quotation.

An award will be issued based on lowest responsive bid meeting specifications.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, April 4, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled to discuss this project on March 26, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. CST in the Physical Plant Conference Room.
