The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Neely Hall elevator rehabilitation project (Bid # E-13375-6749M).

Southern Illinois University will be accepting bids to furnish all material, labor and equipment required to coordinate the modernization of the elevator system in Neely Hall (Bldg. #0142) located on campus. This project is being bid as two separate contracts: Electrical and Elevator. The electrical contract consists of work at Neely Hall necessary to coordinate the modernization of the existing four traction elevators. The electrical contract also includes the addition of fire alarm devices and controls, electrical work to disconnect and reconnect new elevator and ventilation equipment, and finally a small split-system air-handling unit installed in the penthouse. The fire alarm modifications will require reprogramming of the graphical fire annunciator at the Facilities Operation Center on campus.

A contract will be issued to the contractor submitting the lowest proposal, which meets the intent of the bid documents.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Friday, January 11, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid conference is scheduled for this project at the Physical Plant Conference Room on January 4, 2002 at 9 a.m. CST. Attendance at this pre-bid conference is mandatory. All contractors wishing to submit a bid must be present.
