The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University hereby requests letters of interest from architects/engineers to provide professional services for the following University project.
Project Name: Roof Renovations - General Campus
Project Budget: $500,000
Description of Project
This project will continue replacement of roofs that have failed and are no longer repairable. The University owns approximately 525 buildings with a wide variety of roofing materials protecting them from the elements. Recent roof projects have now successfully received 15 and 20-year roof warranties, as opposed to the ten-year warranties on earlier projects. A concerted effort is being made to provide additional slope on campus roofs through the addition of pre-manufactured trusses and standing seam metal on the campus? smaller buildings. The University is requesting funding for the following roof projects: Quigley Auditorium, Studio Arts, Faner A2, A6, A7, A8, A14, Old Baptist Foundation, Shryock, CASA C and other various roofs.
All of the roofs are over 15 years old and are either built-up roofing systems or ballasted EPDM roofs. This project will remove the existing roofs and replace them with new, single-ply roof systems that will include tapered insulation underlayment to avoid ponding water. The completion of these roof replacements will protect the contents and building systems from further damage.
