The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University hereby requests letters of interest from architects/engineers to provide professional services for the following University project.

Project Name: Morris Library - Asbestos Abatement Consultant
Project Budget: $550,000


Description of the Project:Southern Illinois University Carbondale is seeking asbestos consultants to perform project design, project management and air sampling for the future multi-phased asbestos abatement projects at Morris Library. The consultant will be required to conduct asbestos services in accordance with all applicable state and federal guidelines.

The design and construction budgets are as follows:

  • Design Budget: $50,000
  • Construction Budget: $500,000
Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered for selection:
  • Licensed to practice as an architect/engineer in the State of Illinois.
  • Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB).
The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the consulting firms requesting consideration for selection:
  • Prior firm experience with similar projects.
  • Appropriate staff size and disciplines.
  • Prior performance of firm and its consultants with completed projects at Southern Illinois University and with other State Higher Educational Institutions.
Consulting firms should submit six copies of their letter of interest, documentation of qualifications, and current CDB Form 255, by November 24, 2003, addressed to:
