The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Mae Smith Elevator Rehabilitation project (Bid # E13375-6887M).
Southern Illinois University Carbondale is requesting bids for all electrical work to furnish all material, labor and equipment to modernize the elevator system in the Mae Smith Residence Hall (Bldg #0147) located on the Carbondale campus.
The work shall be done in accordance with the plans and specifications entitled,"Rehabilitation of 4 Elevators, Mae Smith Hall" dated July 1, 2003. SIUC General Conditions and Project Labor Agreement apply to this project. The project is being bid as two contracts: Electrical and Elevator.
This project generally consists of work at Mae Smith Hall necessary to modernize the existing four traction elevators. The work to be performed in the Electrical Contract consists of work at Mae Smith Hall necessary to coordinate the modernization of the existing four traction elevators. The Electrical contract also includes the addition of fire alarm devices and controls, electrical work to disconnect and reconnect new elevator and ventilation equipment, lighting and receptacle revisions, the addition of a split system air conditioning system installed in the penthouse, and general construction items. The electrical contract will also include the replacement of elevator cab lighting in the four elevators at Neely Hall with vandal proof fixtures.
A contract will be issued to the contractor submitting the lowest proposal, which meets the intent of the bid documents.
Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, September 11, 2003. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled to discuss this project at the Physical Plant Conference Room on September 4, 2003 at 10 a.m. CDST. Attendance at this pre-bid conference is mandatory. All contractors wishing to submit a bid must be present
