The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the general/concrete work for minor physical facilities project.

This request is for general work to include concrete work, required to complete minor physical facilities projects under the time and materials method of operation. Contractors will bid a separate percentage of mark-up to be charged for material, labor and for sub-contractors for an estimated volume shown on proposal sheets provided with bid documents. A contract will be issued to the lowest qualified bidder meeting the bid requirements and qualifications.

This award will be through September 30, 2005. The University will have the sole option to renew this contract for two additional one-year periods.

The competency and responsibility of all bidders shall be taken into consideration in the award of this contract. All bidders must be pre-qualified with the Illinois Capital Development Board and must have been in business as a prime contractor for general and concrete work during the last three years. Bidders not meeting this requirement will be disqualified. All bidders ahould include a current CDB Certification or Prequalification Letter with their bid response.

Prevailing wage for Jackson County, Illinois and general conditions apply. A bid bond and indemnity bond are also required.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Friday, November 12, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.
A pre-bid conference will be held in the Plant and Service Operations Conference Room, 210 Physical Plant Drive, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, at 9 a.m. CST on November 5, 2004. Attendance is highly recommended.
