for
an estimated $500,000.
The University will issue a Purchase Order to reimburse expenses for the "Southern Illinois Coal to SNG Project" proposed by Power Holdings of Illinois LLC, which provides for an Economic Feasibility study to determine the economic viability of developing an Illinois coal to Synthetic Natural Gas facility in Jefferson County, IL. The project meets the selection criteria of the Clean Coal Review Board program and includes substantial cost sharing from another funding source. The project cost has been negotiated and is substantially lower than the proposed amount. The advanced technology selected for support represents a one-of-a-kind project that is unique in terms of the integration of technology and the physical locations of the subsequent commercial developments. The failure to declare this sole source may bar further development of the project which would create both temporary and permanent mining and construction jobs in Jefferson County.
