an estimated $350,000.
The University will issue a purchase order to reimburse expenses for "The Construction of a Complete Gasification System Providing a Model for Clean Energy Opportunities for Illinois Coal" proposed by Coaltec Energy USA, Inc. The project meets the selection criteria of the Clean Coal Review Board program and is the second phase of a research and demonstration project that will use a unique facility designed and built by the contractor under a previous Clean Coal Review Broad Project. This phase will continue studies of the application of small gasification for Illinois coal and biomass fuel mixtures. The facility is the only one of its kind and the contractor's experience and know how in its operation is critical to the success of the program.
"The Governor of the State of Illinois has granted conflict of interest exemption approval for Southern Illinois University at Carbondale to contract with Coaltec Energy USA, Incorporated, Carterville, Il., under Section 50-20 of the Illinois Procurement code (ILCS 500/50-20".
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
facility is the only one of its kind.
