The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Carbondale hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the Troutt Wittmann Academic and Training Center project.

Southern Illinois University Carbondale will be accepting bids on the general and heating work for the construction of a new 12,400 square foot addition to Lingle Hall on the Carbondale campus.

This request is for a re-bid on the general and heating portions of the construction work on the Troutt Wittmann Academic and Training Center project (Original Bid #E13375-6947-6952M).

Work consists of construction of approximately 12,400 sq. ft. of new building. Construction will be poured concrete footings, concrete foundations, and concrete slab on grade. Exterior walls are concrete, metal studs, face brick veneer/cavity wall, and aluminum window systems. The roofing system is single-ply membrane roofing on rigid insulation on steel roof deck on steel beams. Interior walls are metal studs with gypsum board. Interior finishes include painted walls, vinyl wall covering, acoustical panel ceiling system, carpet, and resilient flooring.

Only the general and heating divisions are being re-bid.

All work associated with this contract must be completed by the end of July 2005.

All bids must be submitted on the Request for Quotation form provided by the Purchasing Department. Faxed bids will not be accepted.

A bid security in a dollar amount equal to 5 percent of the total bid submitted shall accompany each bid in accordance with the bid documents. An indemnity (performance) bond will be required in the amount equal to 100 percent of the accepted bid will be required from the successful contractor.

Each bidder must have a current Illinois Department of Human Rights number.

All bidders must pay employees involved with construction on this project not less than the prevailing wage rate.

Southern Illinois University reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informalities in the bid process and to accept bids which, in its judgment, will be in its own best interest.

Bids shall be held firm and may not be withdrawn for a period of 60 calendar days from the date of receipt.

Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:00 PM local time, on Thursday, August 12, 2004. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid meeting to discuss this project will be held on July 15, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. CDST in the lunchroom at Plant and Service Operations, 210 Physical Plant Drive, Carbondale, IL. All prospective bidders are encouraged to attend.
