The University is seeking bids from qualified vendors to provide all labor, material, and equipment necessary to perform the general contractor portion of work and project coordination for the installation of a fire protection system and fire alarm modifications at Thompson Point in Pierce (#0029), Bowyer (#0031), Steagall (#0032), and Brown (#0033) Halls. Site work includes replacing the existing site water distribution system and installation of exterior pad mounted electrical distribution panels for connecting new fire pumps.
A mandatory pre-bid conference is scheduled for this project at Plant and Service Operations break room on the Southern Illinois University, Carbondale campus on February 5, 2008, at 10:00 a.m. CST. Attendance at this pre-bid conference is mandatory and will be the only opportunity to view the existing buildings prior to bid opening. Upon completion of the pre-bid conference, a walk-through of the halls will be allowed. Photography of individual dorm rooms in Pierce, Bowyer, Steagall, and Brown Halls will not be allowed.
In addition to downloading the attached document, drawings and project manual must be picked up at the following address between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday: SIUC Purchasing Department, Greg Simmons, 1255 Douglas Drive, 2nd floor, 108 Miles Hall, Carbondale, Illinois. Please call ahead so a packet will be ready when you arrive.
An award will be made to the lowest bidder meeting specifications and conditions.
