For architectural/engineering firms interested in providing professional services for the Morris University Center Repairs and Renovation project at SIUE. The Center is a three-story brick building of approximately 193,000 GSF of space. It was constructed in 1964. It serves as the main gathering place or the "hub" of the SIUE student body, faculty, and staff. The Center currently houses the University's food service operation, the University Bookstore, a conference center, the Office of Conferences & Institutes, the Meridian Ballroom, student organization offices, offices for the Center's administrative staff, the Office of Student Publications, several other student support services and limited recreation facilities. Plans call for construction to begin November 2001 with completion by February 2003. This project presents the challenges of completely renovating the facility in the time period specified, making provisions to continue serving clients during the renovation, and keeping all operations functional during this time.
This project has four interrelate components: 1) infrastructure improvements, 2) expansion of food service facilities, 3) programmatic improvements, and 4) upgrade and/or acquisition of equipment.
