The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the construction of one-story administration and classroom building in Springfield, IL project (Bid # 8110).
Project: The Board of Trustees of the Southern Illinois University governing Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hereby requests sealed bids to construct a one-story Administration and Classroom building in Springfield (exact location indicated on drawings). Work includes, but is not limited to, earthwork, site utilities and site improvements, paving and landscaping. Bids will be received and individual contracts will be awarded to a General Contractor, Plumbing Contractor, Electrical Contractor, Heating Contractor, Ventilation Contractor, and Fire Protection Contractor.
Bid Dates: Bids will be received until 2:30 p.m. prevailing time on January 30, 2001 for Prime Contractors (all contractors except for Generals) and 2:30 p.m. prevailing time on February 1, 2001 for General Contractors. All bids shall be submitted to the Purchasing Department, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Supporting Services Building, no later than the dates and times referenced. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly in the Purchasing Conference Room at the Supporting Services Building.
Bid Document Sources: Bid documents may be obtained upon application at the Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville Purchasing Office, Campus Box 1012, Edwardsville, IL 62026 or by contacting Shelly Albert at 618-650-3265, Supporting Service Building. Bid documents will be available on or after January 10, 2001.
Deposit of $100 (per set of contract documents) is required. A check drawn payable to Southern Illinois University, Board of Trustees along with the company''s name, address, and Federal Employer Identification Number will be accepted. The deposit for each set will be refunded to contractors who submit bids directly to SIUE, upon return of contract documents in good condition if not later than fifteen (15) days following the award of contracts. Fifty percent of the deposit will be refunded to non-bidders, subcontractors, and suppliers who return the contract documents within the same period.
Firms that require transmittal of plans and specifications via Federal Express must provide their Federal Express identification number so that delivery charges can be billed direct to their firm.
Bid Document Review Sets: For the convenience of bidders, complete sets of documents will be on file at the Office of Southern Illinois Builders Association, 7623 West Main, Belleville, Illinois; F.W. Dodge Scan, Division of McGraw Hill, 1750 S. Brentwood, St. Louis, MO; Construction Market Data, 2029 Woodland Parkway, Ste. 100, St. Louis, MO; and Dodge Scan, Div. Of McGraw Hill, 421 South Grande Avenue West, Ste. 1B East, Springfield, IL.
Prequalification: BIDDERS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED AND RETURNED THEIR PREQUALIFICATION STATEMENT WHICH IS VALID FOR THE PERIOD JANUARY 1, 2001 THROUGH DECEMBER 31, 2001, WILL BE REQUIRED TO PREQUALIFY IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE BIDDING CONTRACT PROVISION - DOCUMENT PQ00250 PREQUALIFICATION DOCUMENTS. Firms may verify their prequalification status by contacting Shelly at (618) 650-3265. The prequalification document will be due at the SIUE Purchasing Office prior to the bid opening.
Questions: Any questions concerning this project, must be mailed or faxed at least five days prior to the bid opening, to Shelly Albert, SIUE, Purchasing, Campus Box 1012, Edwardsville, IL 62026, fax number 618-650-5682. No questions are to be telephoned to the Architect, Project Coordinator or any other SIUE representative!
Statutory Requirements: The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority which are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.
The University reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked construction of one-story administration and classroom building in Springfield, IL. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 PM local time, on Tuesday, January 30, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

A pre-bid conference for all those interested in bidding the project will be held on January 17, 2001 at the office of Renaissance Architects, Inc., 700 S. Fifth Street, Springfield, IL 62703 at 10:00 a.m. Representatives of the University will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
