The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the installation of 2 1/2 inches of asphalt overlay on part of University Drive project (Bid # 8191).

Successful vendors will furnish all labor, equipment, tools and materials to install 2 1/2 inches asphalt overlay on part of University Drive on the Edwardsville campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly in the Purchasing Conference Room at the Supporting Services Building.

Prequalification: Bidders who have not completed and returned their pre-qualification statement which is valid for the period January 1, 2001 through December 31, 2001, will be required to prequalify in accordance with the bidding contract provision - Document PQ00250 pre-qualification documents. Firms may verify their prequalification status by contacting Shelly at (618) 650-3265. The prequalification document will be due at the SIUE Purchasing Office prior to the bid opening.

Statutory Requirements: The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority which are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.

The University reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked installation of 2 1/2 inches of asphalt overlay on part of University Drive. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 PM local time, on Wednesday, June 27, 2001. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

  • Bid security (see complete bid for details)
  • A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
  • All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

Pre-bid Conference: A prebid conference for all those interested in bidding the project will be held on June 13, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. in the Supporting Services Building. Representatives of the University will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
