The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville hereby requests sealed bids for construction work on the construction of five small stormwater detention ponds at the School of Dental Medicine project (Bid # 8259).

Vendor will furnish all labor, equipment, tools and materials to construct five small stormwater detention ponds in the vicinity of parking lot number 3, 4, and 5 at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL. Construction will consist of approximately 900 cubic yards of earth excavation, modifying existing inlets to detain storm water, tree removal, minor utility relocation and seeding.

Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly in the Purchasing Conference Room at the Supporting Services Building.

Bid documents may be obtained upon application at the Southern Illinois University Edwardsville Purchasing Office, Campus Box 1012, Edwardsville, IL 62026 or by contacting Shelly Albert at 618-650-3265, Supporting Service Building. Bid documents will be available on or after October 4, 2002.

Bidders who have not completed and returned their Prequalification Statement which is valid for the period January 1, 2002 through December 31, 2002, will be required to prequalify in accordance with the bidding contract provision - Document PQ00250 Prequalification Documents. Firms may verify their prequalification status by contacting Shelly at (618) 650-3265. The prequalification document will be due at the SIUE Purchasing Office prior to the bid opening.

Any questions concerning this project must be faxed at least seven days prior to the bid opening, to Shelly Albert, 618-650-5682. Questions should not be addressed to any other University representative, including any representative of Facilities Management or Hurst-Rosche Engineers.

The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority which are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay prevailing wages and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project.

Sealed envelopes containing the bids will be marked construction of five small stormwater detention ponds at the School of Dental Medicine. Bids will be received up to the hour of 2:30 PM local time, on Thursday, October 17, 2002. Immediately after closing time for receiving bids, they will be opened publicly and read.

All bids must include:

• Bid security (see complete bid for details)
• A letter from a surety company in substantially the form set forth in the Instructions to Bidders assuring the issuance of the Performance and Payment Bond.
• All bidders must submit a PC-2 form as required by the Illinois Department of Human Rights.

A pre-bid conference for all those interested in bidding the project will be held on October 10, 2002 at 10:00 a.m. in the conference room of Administrative Offices, Building 273, located at the School of Dental Medicine in Alton. Representatives of the University and Hurst-Rosche Engineers will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are urged to attend.
