Project Description
The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University governing Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) hereby requests letters of interest and statements of qualifications from architect firms interested in providing professional consulting services for the Health Science Building located on the Edwardsville campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.
Letter Submission
Qualifications and supporting materials will be accepted at the address below until 4:00 PM, Monday October 19, 2009:

Rich Walker, Assistant Vice Chancellor
SIUE
#6 Hairpin Drive, Rendleman Hall, Room 2228
Campus Box 1158
Edwardsville, IL 62026

This project seeks architect services to program and design a new Health Sciences Building in the campus core of the Edwardsville campus. The building would house both Nursing and Pharmacy programs with collaborative instructional and research space for Education, Biology, and Dental Medicine. The building will likely be three floors in keeping with the character of the Edwardsville campus. The building will be designed to support classrooms, specialized teaching and research laboratories, faculty offices, and student resource and study spaces. It is expected that the existing campus design standard of red brick towers, glass curtain walls, and tan colored bands will be used in a way that would create not only a fresh appearance, but also to designate a building easily recognizable to students, prospective students and their families, faculty, and guests. The project budget will be determined during the programming phase, but is expected to be near $40 million.
Firms interested in providing such services should submit a team that is able to provide architectural and engineering services, and be pre-qualified with the Illinois Capital Development Board in all of the architectural/engineering disciplines.
The following related criteria will be among those used to evaluate the firms and/or teams requesting consideration for selection: location of firm, prior experience with similar projects, staff size, related State experience, team structure, current workload, and history of accurate cost information. Proposals should include a complete description of the history, size and capabilities of the submitting firm and a list of projects which demonstrate the firm's level of experience. For each project indicate a knowledgeable reference (name, address and telephone number). As a part of the submission, each team member company must include a copy of their CDB Pre-qualification Certificate and a copy of the CDB 255 form for the architect and the engineer.
Please submit eight (8) copies of a letter of interest and statement of qualifications to Mr. Richard Walker, Assistant Vice Chancellor for Administration, Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, Campus Box 1158, Edwardsville, IL 62026-1158 or delivered to Rendleman Hall, Room 2228. Only one copy of the attached forms needs to be provided. To avoid disqualification, there should be no communication with University staff, faculty, or students other than through Rich Walker at (618) 650-2536 or rwalker@siue.edu. SIUE is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
All information concerning this project is included in this posting. Do not request additional information during the submittal process.
Only those firms which meet the following qualifications will be considered:
  • Submitted 8 copies of their qualifications.
  • Licensed to practice as an architect, landscape architect, or engineer in the State of Illinois.
  • Pre-qualified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board.
  • Registered and authorized to do business in the State of Illinois.
Selection will be consistent with the Architectural, Engineering, and Land Surveying Qualifications Based Selection Act (30 ILCS 535/1).

This transaction is subject to the State Board of Elections registration and certification requirements of Public Act 095-0971.

The State of Illinois has a policy to encourage prospective vendors to hire qualified veterans, minorities, females, persons with disabilities and ex-offenders.
