The SIU School of Dental Medicine has 16 research laboratories in the Science building on the Alton campus that are in need of renovation. Plans will look at options for MEP systems as well as replacements of casework and fume hoods for each lab. The project team will develop a plan to renovate the labs in multiple phases as funding becomes available, and to best schedule around the academic needs of the School. Although not a LEED project, design criteria will include many of the LEED concepts for mechanical systems. The scope includes preparation of documents for bid solicitation and construction observation. The initial design effort is contemplated for early 2013, followed by construction in 2013-17, pending funding.
Although not a CDB project, interested firms should submit a team that is able to provide architecture and engineering services and be pre-qualified with the Illinois Capital Development Board.
The following related criteria will be among those used to evaluate the firms and/or teams requesting consideration for selection: location of firm, prior experience with similar projects, staff size appropriate to the scope, related State experience, team structure, current workload, and history of accurate cost information. Proposals should include a complete description of the history, size and capabilities of the submitting firm and a list of projects which demonstrate the firm's level of experience. For each project indicate a knowledgeable reference (name, address and telephone number). As a part of the submission, each team member must include a copy of their CDB Pre-qualification Certificate and a copy of their CDB 255 form.
To avoid disqualification, there should be no communication regarding the scope of this project with University staff, faculty, or students other than through Rich Walker at (618) 650-2536 or SIUE is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.
