All front-end documents for bids let by SIUe include the following standard boiler-plate language: "In support of the Business Enterprise for Minority, Female and Persons with Disabilities Act (MAFBE; 30 ILCS 575 et seq., as amended) the University has established the goal of 20% of its contracts to be awarded to minority (11%), female (7%), and disabled (2%) businesses. University encourages minority, female and disabled business enterprises to compete for and participate in University contracts. The goals can be met by means of contracts let directly to minority, female and disabled business firms by University or indirectly by Proposerâs ordering goods or services from minority, female and disabled firms when suppliers or subcontractors are needed to fulfill the Contract." However, this is a goal and not a requirement. The awardee has not indicated that they meet BEP requirements. The funding used for this project was not such that BEP utilization was required.
The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.
Addendum #1 includes clarifications, additional insurance required, and response to questions. The bid opening date has not been extended.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, (âSIUEâ and âOwnerâ) is seeking quotes from qualified Vendors (âBidderâ) to provide services associated with moving of University owned laboratory equipment and furnishings from the existing Science Building, Alumni Hall and the Vadalabene Center to the new Science Building located on the Edwardsville campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. The furniture moving will be in accordance with the detailed specifications and general terms and conditions herein. This moving service will be required at various buildings over approximately six month period of time, beginning approximately May 2013 and concluding approximately September 2013.
A mandatory pre-bid conference for all those interested in bidding the project will be held on March 7, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. in the Supporting Services Building. Representatives of the University will be present to answer questions regarding the project and bidding procedures. All prospective bidders are required to attend. All representatives must be in the conference room of the Supporting Services by 8:40 and must stay for the entire meeting and site visit which we anticipate will last until 1:00 or 2:00 p.m. All contractors are required to sign in and sign out after site visit. If contractor is late or leaves before the completion of the meeting or site visit, the contractor will not be considered attending the pre-bid conference. This is the only site visit for this project.
The successful bidder will be required to comply with all laws, statutes, regulations, ordinances, rulings or enactments of any governmental authority which are applicable to the work or to the project. The successful bidder shall pay current prevailing wage rates as posted on the Illinois Department of Laborâs website and shall utilize equal employment opportunity hiring practices in connection with this project. The University reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
