The University awarded a contract for a color digital copier to Xerox Corporation, Springfield, IL, for $35,039.
The SIU School of Medicine Print Shop, in its efforts to respond to the color printing demands of the School, requires a color copier that will permit color duplication products to be moved from outside vendors to in-house processing and certain offset printing to color copying. The Xerox Ducocolor 3535 copier is the only equipment currently available with single transfer technology features that will allow the School to meet this need. Unique features available only from the Xerox Ducocolor 3535 copier are:
  • Intermediate belt technology that offers a single pass printing, contrary to other copiers permitted the use of a paper range from 18 lb to 110 lb index stock without paper distortion (this feature is important in able to transfer work normally done by off-set printers)
  • A true resolution of 600 x 600 x 8 dpi; no fuser oil, which generates a property that emulates off set printing
  • Full bleed printing on 12 x 18" paper up to 250 gsm, including coated stock
  • Disbursement of fresh developer with toner to ensure best image quality to eliminate the need to carry developer as a separate supply item
  • A minimum 35 copies per minute black and white (24lb)
