The University awarded a contract for a Leica DM IRE 2 Automated Microscope to North Central Instruments Incorporated for $48,353.50.
There are several features unique to the Leica DM IRE 2 Microscope. The microscope has a CTR MIC Computer Box which ensures there will be no electrical noise during the performance of patch clamping experiments and allows the automated components of the microscope to be controlled without harming programming. This allows all users to be comfortable using the microscope without the risk of damaging it for the next users. Another feature is the "SMART" automation which automatically sets features each time a user switches objectives, wants to image, etc. This feature assists in saving valuable time and providing the highest quality imaging possible. The DC Z-Stepper Motor has a 0.0077um resolution, allowing for maximal resolution and unmatchable stability. The guaranteed fluorescence registration allows images to superimpose without any pixel shift. The microscope has a complete cast aluminum body and internal components providing maximal stablility. North Central Instruments is the exclusive regional dealer for this Leica microscope.
