The University awarded a contract for a gel electrophoresis system to Bio-Rad Laboratories for $45,925.
The equipment being purchased is the first major component of a two component ProteomeWorks System. This component funtions as a two-dimensional gel electrophoresis system for the separation and analysis of proteins in biological samples. This is the only integrated two-dimensional gel electrophoresis - MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry system available with a special gel format and a unique robotic protein excision and protein preparation interface for rapid throughput and fully-automated protein analysis and identification. In addition, this system is unique in the computer software that fully integrates the management of all of the instrument components, including the reaction chemistry, and the data analysis.
