The University awarded a contract for Shimadzu HPLC system to Shimadzu Scientific Instruments Incorporated/Lenexa KS for an estimated $56,259.40.
The system is required for research of Anthracyclines, Mitomycin C, and radioactivity. This system provides single point control for all the Shimadzu HPLC modular components. The web enabled controller on this system allows monitoring and controlling of the complete system from any computer via the internet. The system is the only one available to do this research with the required configurations in an integrated unit. The system consists of:
  • CBM-20A web enabled system controller
  • LC-20AT quaternary solvent delivery unit
  • SPD-20AV UV-Vis detector
  • RF-XL-10AL fluorescence detector
  • SIL20A auto sampler
  • FRC-10A fraction collector
  • CTO-20AC column oven
  • INUS BRAM-2 radioactivity detector
  • CLASS-VP EZStart chromatography software and enhanced data station
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration. The IN/US B-Ram Model 2B flow-through Radio-Isotope Beta Gamma Detector is the only detector capable of 3H, 35S, and 14C detection required for the research. The IN/US B-Ram Model 2B detector includes two PMT's in coincidence counting mode which results in lower backgrounds, better signal to noise ratio and greater sensitivity exclusive to the B-Ram Model 2B detector.
