The Board of Trustees of Southern Illinois University hereby requests letters of interest from architects/engineers to provide professional services for the following School of Medicine project:
Project Name: Animal Barrier Area
Project Budget:$959,000
Description of Project:Renovate 3555 NSF of existing animal holding area to create an animal barrier area. The animal barrier area is designed and managed to avoid entry of potentially pathogenic organisms into animal colonies housed therein. These areas require a secure location, minimal personnel access, animal traffic and are used to house extremely valuable research animals (e.g., irreplaceable strains) used for long-term studies in a parasite and viral-free environment.
This project will not begin until funding to occupy the Springfield Combined Laboratory addition is secured.
Only those firms, which meet the following qualifications, will be considered for selection:
- Licensed to practice as an architect/engineer in the State of Illinois
- Prequalified with the State of Illinois Capital Development Board (CDB)
The following project-related criteria will be used to evaluate the consulting firms requesting consideration for selection:
- Prior firm experience with similar projects
- Appropriate staff size and disciplines
- Prior performance of firm and its consultants with completed projects at Southern Illinois University and with other State Higher Educational Institutions
Consulting firms should submit ten copies of their letter of interest, documentation of qualifications, and current CDB Form 255 at 2:00 p.m. by August 12, 2005.
