The Illinois Department of Human Services and The Hope School have contracted with SIU School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry to assist in the development of the statewide Autism Project. One of the deliverables for the project is the development and maintenance of a multi-faceted distance learning telemedicine curriculum and related web-based services. The outcome of this project will be a secure web-based distance learning site for the Autism Project which includes secured problem-based learning (an educational approach involving patient care-based, self-directed learning) modules (one for parents and one for professionals), public access to information on autism and relevant links, a weekly newsletter, a development calendar and a schedule of training events. The contract resulting from this RFP shall be from date of execution through June 30, 2003 and shall have the option to renew for two additional one-year periods.
