The University awarded a contract for Legal Services - Technology Licensing Program.
This purchase is for legal services related to the University's technology licensing program. There are two exemption aspects to this purchase. The first exemption is that the purchase consists of legal services in anticipated litigation, enforcement actions, or investigations. (30 ILCS 500/1-10(b)(7)) The second exemption is that the purchase consists of events or activities paid for exclusively by revenues generated by the event or activity, gifts, or donations for the event or activity, private grants, or any combination thereof. (30 ILCS 500 / 1-13(b)(2))
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for anticipated litigation, enforcement actions, or investigations.
