The University of Illinois System retains HDC Intellectual Property Law, LLP to represent and to serve as attorney for the University in connection with contracts for patent, trademark protection, and prosecution.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes of the Procurement Code because the procurement expenditure is for anticipated litigation, enforcement actions, or investigations. (30 ILCS 500/1-10(b)(7)) In anticipation of litigation the University hires HDC Intellectual Property Law, LLP to represent and to serve as attorney in matters relating to contracts for patent, trademark protection, and prosecution.
