The University awarded a contract for stents and coils to Johnson & Johnson, Piscataway, NJ, for an estimated $540,000.
These stents and coils are used in the Interventional Radiology Section for the treatment of cerebral aneurysms. These products are proven to be very effective in filling the aneurysm completely and providing a better outcome for patients.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the item or service is copyrighted or patented and is not available except from the holder of the copyright or patent. Johnson and Johnson provide the only patented stents and coils that are approved by the FDA for this type of patient care treatment.
