SoleSource #014SOS
Announcement of a Sole Source Purchase
Change Order
Published Thursday February 2, 2012
Vendor: Johnson & Johnson Healthcare
Change Order Amount: $330,000

The purpose of this announcement is to modify the amount estimated at the beginning of the term. The University awarded a contract for brain glue beginning on 7/1/11 for a three year period in the estimated amount of $390000. That amount was estimated based on historic expenditures.

Actual expenditures are never 100% predictable because they vary as a function of patient volume or number of surgical cases or surgeon preference.

Actual expenditures for fiscal year 2012 to-date have increased as the number of surgical cases have doubled and the surgeon preference for this product has also doubled. Therefore, based upon the increase in surgical cases along with the surgeon preference for this product, it is estimated that the recent usage will continue throughout the term.

The Change Order amount represents the FY 12 actual rate of spend through the end of the term.

This purchase remains economically available from a single source because this product was recently FDA approved and only available from this vendor.
The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.
