The University awarded a contract for extended service plan for Solar Turbines to Solar Turbines Inc., San Diego, CA, for an estimated $340,530.
The five year extended service agreement with the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) expired on January 31,2012. Since the negotiations were still ongoing, an Amendment was executed and necessary to keep the Turbine units covered. The amendment to an existing sole source is requested for February 1, 2012 through June 30, 2012.

This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts, or service is a paramount consideration.
An extended service agreement from the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) for three (3) Solar brand Taurus 70 combustion turbine generators located at the UIC Power Plant. The five-year (60 month) extended service agreement covers repair service and replacement of turbines.

A public hearing will be held at which interested parties may testify for or against
the sole source determination as described in this notice. The purpose of the hearing
is to receive information from the public in a reasonable manner. Formal rules of
evidence will not apply.
The hearing panel will produce minutes of the hearing and may record it in order
to aid in the production of the minutes. Interested parties wishing to comment
for or against the determination may do so in writing or in person. If you wish
to testify, prior registration is requested to ensure adequate time is allowed for all parties.
