The University awarded a contract for purchase of human organs including tissue to Gift of Hope Organ and Tissue Donor Network, Itasca, IL, for an estimated $12,000,000.
This purchase is for procurement of human organs including tissue and histocompatibility testing for accredited transplant programs on an as-needed basis for the University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System. Gift of Hope is the only certified, federally qualified Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) which provides a single, coordinated organ and tissue recovery program to support all transplants in this region.
