The University awarded a contract for online access to Virtual Career Success Center to CarreerBeam, LLC, Herndon, VA, for an estimated $22,000.
The purchase is for online access to Private-Labeled Virtual Career Success Center that includes dedicated coach-supported services to 100 students for the period beginning upon execution through June 30, 2009, with the University's option to renew for 4 additional twelve-month periods based on satisfactory performance, continuing need, and availability of funds.

The Liautaud Graduate School of Business has developed a two part strategic plan that incorporates the use of CareerBeam, LLC's virtual career center to assist incoming students with self-directed career development and the new Director of Career Development to work directly with students that are closest to graduation. CareerBeam, LLC's services will assist in achieving the strategic goals of providing a strong career center that will be more attractive to students and increase the placement rate of graduating students. Without this service, the Liautaud Graduate School of Business will lose the aspect of being able to provide career services to students, which will result low enrollment numbers, and a loss of revenue to the College of Business Administration.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the the requested online career services can only be provided by the recommended vendor. The virtual career center offered by CareerBeam, LLC is composed of four aspects: 1) Career Profile (specific assessments/exercises that include vision, values, personality, interests, skills and temperament assessments), 2) Self-Development (including resume and cover letter development tools), 3) Search Engines (company research, industry research, salary research, international research and E-Library) and 4) Coach Support (a live career coach, who is an industry leader with many years of experience, reviews resumes and contacts students with recommendations). CareerBeam, LLC is the only company that offers the combined package for career services which is essential for a graduate school to be marketable to students. Other companies were evaluated and it was determined that they could only provide one or two aspects and could not provide the complete career services package that can be provided by CareerBeam, LLC.
