The University awarded a contract for professional Medicare billing compliance services to Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc., Jericho, NY for an estimated $23,000.
These professional Medicare billing compliance education and assessment software services are for the University of Illinois at Chicago's College of Medicine, Medical Service Plan. A contract for services was approved for the period beginning approximately July 1, 2006 through June 30, 2007, with the option to renew for 5 additional one-year periods subject to continuing need and availability of funds.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the transaction is exempt from competitive bidding requirements because the services are most economically procured from the recommended contractor. A request for proposal for these services, issued in September, 1999, but never awarded, resulted in only two responses - Health Care Compliance Strategies, Inc. (HCCC) and Net Learning. A review of the proposals indicated that HCCS specialized in physician training, while Net Learning focused on training Hospital non-physician staff.
