The University awarded a contract for Filming of TV Episode UIC The College Tour to The College Tour, Austin, TX, for an estimated $120,000.
Vendor will provide UIC with one half hour TV episode comprised of approximately ten, two- and one-half minute segments for airing on the TV show "The College Tour" and online digitally in both long form, full episode and short form, individual segments to reach and engage large numbers of potential students and parents through the content created.
We are looking to reach a large number of potential students and parents that will impact our application and ultimately our enrollment numbers here on campus. We also want to showcase the rich history of this campus and showcase everything UIC has to offer to a wide audience in the US and potentially outside of the US as well. The episode is also used as school counselor content when teaching about applying to college, they have a network of 60000 counselors that will also receive an alert on the episode as part of their publicity, as well as on their social media channels.
The university, on information and belief, has concluded that only one vendor can meet its need or can meet the need economically. That vendor is The College Tour. The university has provided detailed justification to support its conclusion as shown on the attached Sole Source Justification Form.
Although the university has presented this as a sole source procurement, we are seeking competitive information from firms with the capability of meeting the university's need (even if performed in a manner different from what has been presented) to contact us and provide sufficient information to show the need can be met. If we receive that information, the Chief Procurement Officer will offer a public hearing to consider the matter. Hearing information is described below.
All sole source hearings under the jurisdiction of the Chief Procurement Officer for Higher Education will be conducted by tele-conference only until the in-person option is reinstated.
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the media is for advertising. The College Tour is the only vendor that provides the TV show series that focuses on colleges and universities.
