Comments:
The University of Illinois at Chicago experienced a fire at one location causing damage to property and contents and loss at a second location due to equipment failure causing severe water damage. Both requiring immediate services to preserve materials and property. This purchase is provided for in section 526.2030 b)1)B of the Procurement Rules of the Chief Procurement Officer for Public Institutions of Higher Education.
The University award process may be delayed up to thirty days as this award goes through a state approval process.

The University awarded a contract for claims management services.
This emergency/quick purchase was required due to a situation in which the need for services to protect or futher University interests was immediate and use of other competitve source selection procedures under the Illinois Procurement Code could not have been accomplished without significant risk of causing disadvantages to the University
