The University awarded a contract for Medtronic Surgical Technologies to Medtronic Surgical Technologies, Minneapolis, MN, for an estimated $900,000.
Purchase of Medtronic Surgical Technologies products are based on surgeon preference as determined through clinical evaluation of patient prognosis . The Surgical Technologies division designs and manufactures products for the diagnosis and treatment of ear, nose, and throat (ENT) diseases as well as items for cranial, spinal, and neurologic conditions (Neurologic Technologies, which includes the Midas Rex�?� system, burs, and drills).
The University has determined that this purchase is only economically available from this source because the item or service is copyrighted or patented and is not available except from the holder of the copyright or patent.
