This is a sole source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts or services is a paramount consideration. The support services can only be provided by the original manufacturer of the Oracle database licenses. The support services will be used to provide 24x7 coverage for the database that includes the University of Illinois Hospital main clinical application and other related applications.
The on-site technical support services to Oracle databases will be for the period upon execution through June 30, 2006. The support services will assist with the proper application of Oracle's technology, recommended best practices; deliver pertinent information, offer general transfer of knowledge, information sharing and resolve technical errors or issues that may occur. The consequences of not having Oracle support coverage in the event of a database failure is that patient records would not be available to physicians and clinicians, which would compromise patient care.
