The University awarded a contract for a software license to Porter Lee Corporation, Schaumburg, IL for $52,182.50.
This is a contract for a software license for Crime Fighter Beast Forensics system (LIMS) for FY06. This is a sole source because the compatibility of equipment, accessories, replacement parts or services is a paramount consideration. The LIMS system is the only system that can link the University of Illinois Animal Forensic Toxicology Laboratory and the Illinois Racing Board (IRB) race tracks.

The University Animal Forensic Toxicology Laboratory serves as a forensic entity and must maintain a secure environment for evidence concerning receipts, inventory and analytical processes between the laboratory and the IRB race tracks. The LIMS system is required to allow the University to be compatible with IRB race tracks in order to perform the analytical testing and reporting as required.
