The University awarded a contract for a reagent rental agreement for HIV Genotyping to Siemens Medical Solutions Diagnostics, Dallas, TX, for an estimated $150,000.
These kits and supplies will be used to sequence the DNA of the HIV virus for mutation analysis for the detection of drug resistance. This analysis is used to determine appropriate multi-drug therapy for patients infected with the HIV virus and is also used to monitor therapy.
This purchase is only economically available from a single source because the
sole supplier's items are needed for trial use or testing.
