The University awarded a contract for asthma patient outreach, assessment & home visit .
Sinai Urban Health Initiative is providing professional services to improve care for Blue Cross Blue Shield (BCBS) HMO members that are asigned to University of Illinois Hospital and Health Sciences System (UIHHSS) as their BCBS HMO medical site. UIHHSS does not have adequate staffing to provde this additional level of care, so Sinai Urban Health Initiative will provide intensified, individualized intervention to document asthma control and improve asthma management.
Sinai Urban Health Initiative is the vendor identified by BCBS that can provide this unique service to UIHHSS BCBS HMO patients. BlueCross Blue Shield provides 100% of the funding. There is no other entity authorized by BCBS to provide this service. If services are not performed by Sinai, these patients will not receive this additional level of care.
This purchase is exempt from the usual selection processes in the procurement code because
the procurement expenditures are for events or activities for which the use of specific vendors is mandated or identified by the sponsor of the event or activity, provided that the sponsor is providing a majority of the funding for the event or activity.
